There is a point when repetition stops reinforcing a message and starts erasing it.
Psychologists call it habituation. Get exposed to the same patterns long enough and those patterns disappear from relevance.
Resumés work the same way.
Recruiters see the same patterns over hundreds of documents over weeks and months, and they’ve read the same phrases like “detail-oriented”, “self-starter”, “proven track record”. They progressively filter out these phrases and patterns as non-informative.
Put simply, these approaches do not register for recruiters or hiring managers anymore. Never mind that these phrases were never strong to begin with.
Your resumé is not competing against silence, it is competing against white noise.
The fix is to sound like you.
Like a real person, not a template.
That is how you cut through the noise.
