Structural Editing
We review an early draft of your work to ensure it is well organized, with no missing or extraneous content.
This stage of editing could include moving or deleting sections, rewriting or adding missing content.
We ask: Is all of the information present in the work or do we need to add more detail? Does the structure of the writing make sense? Would rewriting some sections improve the flow and make the writing the best it can be?
Stylistic Editing
Once your writing has good structure and is well organized, we edit your work for clarity and conciseness. We look for wordiness, awkward phrasing, eggcorns, jargon or anything that would impede the reader’s understanding of the work.
This stage of editing analyzes your writing line by line, ensuring the meaning is consistent, has excellent flow and is free of extraneous text.
We ask: Is there an opportunity to curb wordiness to improve the text? Are there phrases that seem out of place that should be moved or eliminated? Are there instances of jargon or eggcorns that need to be addressed?
Copy Editing
This stage of editing looks for grammar or punctuation errors, word usage and style consistency and corrections are made where necessary.
We ask: Do changes to grammar and punctuation need to be made? Does the text follow the house style and is it consistent throughout? Are there missing elements that need to be captured?
Proofreading
This is the final step in the editing process. We ensure all necessary edits have been made and the design of the writing is ready for publication.
At this stage, there should be as little change as possible, and this stage acts as the final check.
We ask: Have all noted changes be made and does the text conform to the house style? Are there any missing elements or design changes? Is this text ready for publication?
